It is now pretty much all hands on deck! Development has been planned and invoked, requirements are being developed and the solution keeps growing as days go by.
Throughout this process, prototype as much as possible. Instil short sprints, providing a release of a better solution at the end of the each sprint. Ensure this tested and used by key stakeholders. Involve every possible stakeholder as soon as possible. These people must be happy & satsified. Are they experiencing more efficinecy?
Stakeholder & User involvement is of most importance. Not only do they guide the product team that the solution being built is being built in the right manner, but also ensure that we are building the right solution. Such key stakeholders have the knowledge on the ground, internally in operations and are able to provide valuable feedback.
Furthermore, such key stakeholders shall embrace the new solution since they have been involved, embracing change and chair-leading the new world, the new product - pushing positivity amongst their own team and other colleagues.
By nature, people shall accept change and embrace it much more if they were part of it from day 1, knowing that they had contributed to the success of the new process, or product/solution. Such stakeholders must be identified and nurtured, kept up to date with progress and kept involved. Typically these stakeholders may easily influence other team members or other departments, or simply have a great communication channel to many clients.
Ensuring the above provides clarity, proper communication channels, daily updates, weekly progress reporting, risk and issue mitigation logs as well as keeping action logs amongst all stakeholders. This is key to a successful delivery of the solution, giving birth to your Baby Elephant! :)
Throughout the whole journey, we witness three very important elements in every stage. These are:
Clarity across the board;
Communication;
Stakeholder engagement
These 3 principals simply instil discipline, instil respect, motivate & empower stakeholders to feel accountable, and ultimately put aside ego. The product team is not the engineering Team, or the Product Owner. A Product Team is made up of all stakeholders who have contributed to the product, who all have value in the success of the product, its roadmap and the companies Vision & Mission.
People are the Product & Technology is the vehicle!
